Rubber Armbands: Everything You Want to Know

Wristbands have become a popular fashion accessory, not because they can be personalized to be as decorative as you want but because they can be customized in any way you like. They can carry custom designs and messages, but custom silicone wristbands can also showcase slogans to enhance awareness for different causes. Hence, these rubber armbands are also called awareness bands at times.

What are Rubber or Baller Bands?

Rubber bracelets are also called baller bands or ID bands. Some people also call them rubber bangles or rubber wristbands. These bands are similar to silicone wristbands and can be used for anything. Most rubber bands are made with a 0.5 to 0.75-inch width and 7 – 8.5 inches circumference.

Most of these bands have a thickness of 0.1 inches, but they can be customized to be thicker. The thickness of a silicone wristband custom depends on its design and purpose, and if you require a wider band, that can be ordered. Most bands, however, are manufactured at the standard 0.1-inch thickness, so they are flexible and comfortable to wear.

Rubber bracelets were initially called gel bracelets, and they were manufactured for the first time in the 1980s. They have been popular ever since because they are inexpensive and customizable. Rubber bands have become even more popular in the past decade because they are favored as a fundraising tool.

Why Use Rubber for Bracelets?

Rubber is favored as a material when manufacturing silicone wristbands custom because it is simple to use and abundantly available. Companies can customize it quickly; it is pliable and can be colored in various shades. Rubber or silicone wristbands are trendy and have many valuable characteristics.

Rubber wristbands are waterproof, have minimum toxicity, and do not support microbe growth. Rubber is a rigid material resistant to wear, shock, pressure, and friction. Synthetic bracelets undergo a molding and mixing process that starts with combining materials into a substance that feels like dough. This substance is then stirred and heated until it achieves a specific consistency.

Once these custom rubber armbands are made, they are rolled using a rolling pin that cools them down and into the required thickness. When these sheets are thick enough and cooled, they are then cut into strips, then put into an extruder, a machine.

The bracelets attain their round shape in the extruder. The rubber is shaped into a form that can be best explained as a hose. This rubber hose is cooled, heated, washed, and then prepared for marking or printing. Once printed, the rubber is cut into strips and worn by people.

Customizing Wristbands

These wristbands can be personalized to fit the requirements of different organizations, companies, and individuals. Personalization begins at the plant where these wristbands are created. The design process begins at the plant because the required color is added at the manufacturing stage, and the thickness with the circumference is also carved during manufacturing.

The molding procedure for custom bracelets rubber makes it easy to create these bands, and bulk manufacturing is also possible. However, before you order these bracelets, you will be asked for the following information. So you must be prepared to answer the following requirements before you place a bulk order for custom wristbands.

1. Colour – Most people order single-colored wristbands, but you can easily order dual-color wristbands. Since your chosen color will be added to the wristbands during their manufacture, you must carefully select the color since it cannot be changed at a later stage. Not all makers can offer dual or multicolor bands; hence you must research and choose a manufacturer that provides multi-colored wristbands.

2. Size – The standard size for wristbands is 7 to 8.5 inches, with a thickness of 0.1 inches and a width of 0.5 to 0.75 inches. However, you can order wider and thicker bands, but you will have to mention that to the seller while placing the order.

3. Printing Medium – Wristbands can be marked using various printing methods. However, the silkscreen method is the cheapest. However, that is not the best or most eye-catching method for wristbands. Here are some options of printing mediums that you may want to know before you place your rubber wristband order-

a. Embossing – This is a method for marking that creates 3D designs on wristbands. Heated stamps are used to create slogans and designs that can be seen on wristbands.

b. Colored embossing – This is similar to embossing, except ink or paint is used on the raised slogans or designs. This gives you a three-dimensional appearance, but the colors on the wristbands make them appear even more attractive.

c. Debossing – Debossing is the opposite of the embossing method, and it is performed using heated stamps as well, but instead of raising the design, it is recessed.

d. Colored debossing – This addition to debossing is performed if you want the slogans on your wristband to appear more eye-catching. Paint or ink is added to the parts that have been recessed. The colors used on the recessed portion of the wristband are often in contrast with the rest of the wristband, so they can appear more distinct and noticeable.

4. Design – You also have to share your wristband design while placing the order. If you share your design earlier, the manufacturer can suggest changes based on any possible difficulties. The required design information that you must have while placing the order is as follows-
1. You must be clear on what message must be printed on the band.
2. You must have already chosen the colors for your wristband.
3. You must decide if you want images or logos on your design or any other considerations.

You will also be required to discuss your wristband’s marking or printing method.
